I don't know about you, but when the new iPhone 3G came out, I just had to get one.  It finally had the features, and speed, that I wanted - well, should I say, that made me want to get rid of my T-Mobile Wing and get a REAL phone.

It hasn't been all roses with the phone, don't get me wrong.  I'm on my third phone since the July 11th release date (I got mine from the Apple Store at the Holyoke mall).  You might think that's excessive (which I kind of do), but since there were issues with the first batch of phones, I couldn't take the risk that the flakiness I was seeing wasn't related to that first batch of "duds".

Now, things are pretty good - my only complaint is that I no longer get 3G coverage in my house.  That's not a big problem, since I have wi-fi here, BUT when I got back from my summer at the beach, I HAD 3 bars of 3G pretty much everywhere in my house.

Something did change, but I'm just not in the mood to fight with AT&T and then again with Apple and then back to AT&T.  I'm happy with the phone for now, and I'll just leave it at that.

So, here's what iPhone 2.2 Firmware includes:

Enhancements to Maps
- Google Street View
- public transit and walking diretions
- display address of dropped pins
- share location via email
Enhancements to Mail
- resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
- improved formatting of wide HTML email
Improved stability and performance of Safari
Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular)
Decrease in call set-up failures and call drops
Improved sound quality of visual voicemail messages
Pressing the Home button from any Home screen takes you to the first Home screen
Preferences to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard settings

There are some pretty good enhancements there - I'd still like to see ANY implementation of cut & paste - ANYTHING.  You don't know how much you miss something until it's gone!

The update is still "updating" on my phone, so I'll report back if there is anything BAD - I'll probably forget to report if there was anything GOOD, but I'll try to be good enough to post about my experience.
